| 内容記述 | In this paper, I have considered the writings of the landscape architect － Tomotaka Nishikawa, during the early Showa period and the quarterly magazines that he had edited.Nishikawa highlighted the importance of the relationship between a house’s architecture and its gardens and the significance of the linkage between the architects and landscape architects. He had also defined the term “garden crafts” to include a wide range of artifacts that were used in the residential gardens as well as other garden structures and architectural elements. The important roles of the “garden crafts” were “to enjoy the outdoor life” and “to communicate with the interior” of the architecture and its garden. In addition, it became evident that Nishikawa was aiming for a comprehensive research to correlate the three professions － architecture, landscape architecture, and crafts, along with the people involved in these three professions. Furthermore, Nishikawa's interest in the role of architects, landscape architects, and other technicians in the practice of tourism was also found to have been expanded. | |||||
