| 内容記述 | 中等教育における英語学習において, 協働学習が一般化している。本稿ではその具体的な教育効果について, 英語の習熟度の異なるグループを比較することで解明したい。調査対象は4年制大学の習熟度が異なる3つの学習グループで，それぞれのリーディング授業において協働学習であるペアワークを実施した。そのペアワークの効果，また英語授業および英語学習に対する意識変化等を調査分析するため全講義後，3グループの学習者に対しアンケート調査を行った。その調査結果を分析した結果，学習者の英語習熟の差がペアワークの学習効果および学習意識に大きな差異をもたらすことはなかった。しかしながら，男女の異性ペアと男性同士の同性ペアでは，アンケート結果に大きな差異が認められ，当然，それぞれのペアワークの学習効果，および英語学習に対する意識に高低が生じていた。このことから中等教育における英語の協働学習であるペアワークやグループワークを効果的に展開する前提条件として，ペアリングの異性・同性および男女の比率が重要な要素となりうることを考慮する必要性があると考えられる。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how pair-work activities in English reading classes affect learners’ perceptions on learning English. In order to examine their perceptions, a questionnaire survey was conducted at the end of the semester among three classes of Japanese university students taking mandatory English classes. There was a beginner class, an intermediate class and an advanced class based on students’ level of English proficiency. The responses from the three different classes were compared in terms of the sex ratio of each class. Both the advanced and beginner classes consisted of approximately the same number of males and females, while almost all students were males in the intermediate class. The results revealed that paring, especially mixed-sex pairing, has a significant effect on learners’ perceptions on learning English regardless of the learners’ English proficiency differences. |
