内容記述 Based on an example of Chinese Qin opera theater school, this paper analyzes learning process of aspiring performers in a school setting by applying the concept of ‘routine experiment’, which implies innovation, in educational studies. Studies on performing arts education have been primarily focusing on the relation between apprenticeship and human resources development until recently because many performing arts (especially traditional ones) have thought to transmit its skills and knowledge through it. Many researchers still think that apprenticeship is the dominant educational mode for performing arts education. Although some researchers finally came to recognize the importance of school education for human resources development in recent years, learning process of aspiring performers in school settings is not yet sufficiently studied. Taking the situation into consideration, it is the main purpose of this paper to analyze the learning process to illuminate how school education affect transmission of intangible culture (especially its performance skills and knowledge): a topic especially important in the studies on intangible cultural heritage transmitted through school education. The paper will also show that the concept of ‘routine experiment’ offers a vantage point on the intricate relation between transmission of tradition and development of artistic creativity. In conclusion, the paper will suggest a new theoretical direction for the studies on performing arts education and its related field.
