The teacher needs to implement a good method in order to facilitate students’ understanding of phase variations, visible positions, and viewing times of the moon. \nChildren nowadays often come in contact with astronomy events such as moon eclipse, or solar eclipse through the mass media. However, it is rare that they think about“ moon phases” in everyday life. In addition, many elementary school teachers tend to feel inadequate to teach the domain of astronomy since they did not study the contents of earth science. Therefore, in order to solve these issues, the writer made an experimental model device wherein an observer can take note of his approximate position, observation time, and moon phases at the specific time. Furthermore, the writer hypothesized that the understanding of the moon phases will deepen by adopting this cooperative thought experiment with the use of the experimental device in the classroom and the writer has decided to go forward with this study under this hypothesis.
