Blues is regarded as one of the roots of rock along with country and western, folk, and skiffle. However, it would be inappropriate to apply the same picture to rock music in Japan as in the U.S. and Britain. In Japan, there was a blues boom in the 1970s that came after rock music. It was discovered in the process of pursuing \"real rock\".\nn this analysis, Jason Toynbee's discussion of \"creativity\" in popular music production is instructive.
