The purpose of this paper is to examine Gilligan's ethics of care and Sen's capability approach as post-Rawls theories of justice, and to look for a different path from Rawls's. Rawls's theory of justice is constructed based on actors who can make independent and autonomous decisions. Gilligan, by contrast, considers ethics of care in interdependent relationships. Furthermore, Sen, using the concept of capability, attempts to consider equality and inequality by acknowledging an 'overwhelming asymmetry' among people.
